The first lesson was my girlfriend and I, and about 4 or 5 others for the trial class. We had a great time and got to learn the basics with a quick how to disable an attacker. Safe to say i can see why they need groin protection! Anyway its a great way to keep fit and learn how to defend yourself.... effectively!
This club with it's classes at various locations around Norwich is suitable for the absolute beginner.Even if you have never done any martial arts or self defence before. It is also suitable for the serious martial artist who want to try something similar or in many ways different to the system they already have. The members are friendly, enthusiastic and competent.Tony the senior instructor is a really nice, friendly person with knowledge, experience and ability in equal measure. He is always ready to explain and demonstrate. His club's are friendly and welcoming to new members.
AR Krav Maga is an excellent club, teaching a brilliant system. The club is friendly and teaching is in a way that demonstrates the breadth of Tony's knowledge - peppered with a few bad jokes! We always leave class happy !!
I can't recommend AR Krav Maga highly enough: the techniques that you learn are immediately are focused on the sorts of things that might happen in real life. No ornamental katas or patterns, but lots of practical skills that could help you avoid an unpleasant situation. Most importantly, the club is really friendly; with a good mix of men and women of all ages and ability. Tony, who leads the sessions and runs the club is brilliant and explains things carefully so that everyone is happy.
Our BTEC level 3 was an amazing experience. Tony is a great teacher with outstanding attention for detail and unique way of delivering his message. The course was very educational and fun at the same time. Thank you Tony
Many thanks to Tony Robinson for an excellent training session. I Thoroughly enjoyed the course - the standard of training was excellent and I now feel confident using the self-defence and break away techniques taught on the day.
I really enjoyed my first trial class. We covered a lot in just an hour. I felt like I learnt during the class as well as having fun. I was a little apprehensive beforehand but Tony was really good at putting everyone at ease. I am looking forward to my next class already.
On coming to Krav Maga I was pleasantly surprised by the welcoming atmosphere and the positive teaching style of the intsructor. There were no overbearing individuals and the lesson was fun but realistic in the importance of ensuring safe practice and preparing people for what to do if they had to defend against an attacker. Having done some other introductory courses in martial arts I rate this as the most positive and useful of all those I have attended. Thanks for your patience.
BTEC Level-2 Award Breakaway & Self-Defence. Sunday 26th February at Owen Barnes Room, Breckland Road, Costessey. I have just completed this interesting and professionally taught course by Instructor, Tony Robinson. The course is mainly aimed at the basics of breakaway and self-defence, although during training it struck me as being an ideal companion to Krav Maga learning. It looks at the easy, yet effective ways of disengagement for a range of personal attacks on individuals, but in addition focuses on the legal(law), human rights and health & safety side, an area often unknown or unchartered by your average person. There is a web-site to aid you with your learning the legal(law) and human rights issues, as mentioned, together with a few genuine scenarios to aid in the understanding their meanings. I particularly liked the examples given on the web-site as it made you think about your legal position in the event of an attack or defensive situation. Tony Robinson gives you a comprehensive lecture by power-point on the full outline of the course and clearly demonstrates all of the various breakaway and self-defence techniques. These are practised throughout the session when finally you’re tested on your absorption and accuracy to administer them. Thanks Tony - great course, worth every penny and time spent. Steve Mitchell.
Really enjoyed the initial sessions of AR Krav Maga. Now settled in with a few months under my feet. An eye opening & awareness change in how I see my environment. Genuine more confidence if I felt the need for self defence. All relevant in what I do for work & have used the situational awareness more than once as an EMT in the ambulance service. Really good & would genuinely recommend at least a go too see for yourself...
As someone who has trained in a tough and sometimes brutal martial art under an old school tough instructor,I have found many of today's martial arts clubs a pale imitation.I went along to this Kravmaga class with an open mind. The senior instructor is a welcoming and friendly guy.Within minutes I felt that old buzz of a great club with a great instructor.I particularly liked his no nonsense approach to the system itself but he will not tolerate thugs or bullies so timid people can join without worry..I have wanted a club that teaches well, realistic system and a good atmosphere. That is this club.
I've trained martial arts for about 5 years, unfortunately I had to stop and that break took me about 11 years ;) When I have decided to back to activity in last month, I did start to look for good martial arts club. Most of clubs is a joke, music, talks, less practise so you won't learn much there. In Tony class where you can learn self defence is that what you really need, Krav Maga can give you confident, speed and good skills. I can recommend Tony's class as really PRO study for someone who want to learn self defence.
I like my hobbies to reflect reality. A run is x-country & muddy, biking is preferably off road, outdoor events are January in ice, water & mud. The 1st trial night of Krav Maga is emphasied as reality based to deal with real situations. Really good atmosphere. No preamble. You are involved from the onset in a really good team environment. Good stuff & I really enjoyed it. Roll on the next session...
Over the years l have dipped my toe in a variety of martial arts/self defence styles in the firm belief that "this" will be the one for me to only be disappointed as the training becomes rigidly technical and eventually, just plain boring. Kravmaga is not rigidly technical and most definitely not boring. For me, it is the most pragmatic and adaptable style of self defence that l truly believe anyone can become provicient provided they apply themselves with commitment. It will test you but at a level appropriate to your capabilities and believe me, it's not long before you reap the benefits and realise that self defence need not be complicated or beyond any individuals ability.
At my club, ARKRAVMAGA, you could not find a nicer group of guys and girls, there really are no egos here and the support for each other is open, honest, and great fun. l truly cannot wait until my next class and this speaks volumes for Tony, our instructor, who has, in the very short life of a newly established club created an atmosphere that you want to be a part of, l love it and l know my fellow members do too as high attendance levels demonstrate.
Update on Krav Maga Pistol Defence for the Self Protection System. Our first training session back since Sunday's seminar and everyone was still buzzing. We all agree the 5 star rating is really not enough for this level of instruction. Any Martial Art group, club or organisation should seriously consider getting Tony to instruct at their venue. I have never recommended any one before to the British Combat Association, but will be doing so in due course. Everyone in my club cannot wait for phase 2 of our training next year.
Who do we choose to come to our small club in Fakenham to deliver a seminar with a no nonsense approach to Self Defence/Self Protection? Over many years of training with some of the best reality instructors in the UK (geoff thompson etc) I thought I had seen it all. Thank goodness I decided to Invite Tony to give us a seminar on Pistol defence. This was by far the best taught, organised, informative & fun seminars I have ever attended, the feed back today Sunday 16th October 2016 from the students, some who I may add are instructors in their own right was 'When is he coming back'. He will be next year that's for sure. Quality instruction.
It was an honour to be trained by Tony Robinson. I had no idea what was in store for me on the first of ten personal training sessions I had booked. Tony told me his sessions were different from other trainers and would be a mixture of self defence and fitness training. I was introduced to Karv Maga in an extremely well structured, carefully planned and meticulous way. No two sessions were the same but everything we did looped back to what I had been taught already. Tony knows his stuff and is passionate about what he does and how he trains. Safety is his first priority and no matter how many times I tried to distract him so I could catch my breath he always managed to encourage me to stay focused and in the zone. You will not find another more professional Personal Trainer that brings far too many years of experience to each lesson than you pay for. He gets results and he has made a significant difference to my muscle definition, weight loss and best of all sent me on a positive path where I can defend myself confidently should I ever need to. If you have Tony as your trainer you are in for an amazing transformation.
A brilliant class teaching skills that actually work in real life situations. Also providing a great opportunity to meet new people and build confidence. Tony is a highly motivated instructor with a strong knowledge and skills base. A no nonsense approach with an injection of humour that soon has everyone feeling comfortable and ready to go.
I have wanted to explore a self defence discipline for some time and took the plunge with AR Krav Maga. As a law enforcement professional, I want to complement my mandatory training with a proven system which I can practice regularly. I can already see the practical application of Krav Maga in real world scenarios. As a former Army PTI, Tony knows how to get the best out of people. In contrast to civilian instructors he can relate what he teaches to the real world. He makes newcomers feel very welcome and all egos get left at the door. Highly recommended.
I found the introductory course fun, informative, energetic and very inspiring. Tony greeted me when I arrived and spoke about my medical situation, which put me at ease and assured me that health and safety was a priority. The session was simple to follow, and covered a large amount of material. Throughout the session Tony referred the relevance of the exercises to protecting yourself and being aware of your surroundings. I liked session as it was informative, ego free, and really well planned. If you are a person who doubts their self worth or lacks confidence AR Krav Maga is definitely for you.
I meet Tony on a security supervisor course , one of the modules was physical intervention.Although Tony was not the instructor he was asked to show the class some of his techniques . His professional approach and his confident manner had the whole class trying his techniques with excellent results. I personally would like to thank Tony for introducing me to this style of self defence , and I will looking to join a class in my hometown.
I have just completed the physical intervention module of the door supervisor course with Tony Robinson. The whole day way excellent and has inspired me to learn more about Krav Maga. An excellent instructor, he was knowledgeable, engaging, enthusiastic, funny and was extremely patient.Tony took time with each of us to individually demonstrate the techniques involved. As the only female in a group of 11 I was a little apprehensive at first, but he put me entirely at ease! Thank you Tony for a really rewarding day, I learnt a lot and enjoyed every minute.
Tony is a great Krav Maga instructor and I have learnt so much from his tuition, I now feel so much more confident that I could protect and defend myself if I needed too, I would highly recommend Krav Maga to everyone young and old, male and female, keeping fit while learning to protect yourself and your loved ones if needed, what could be better than that!.
Did my BTEC level 3 in self defence instruction with Tony of AR Krav Maga. A throughly nice guy he made everyone on the course feel welcome and at ease from the start. Once he started teaching I soon realised what a wealth of knowledge he posses! A great teacher, learnt so much from him in just one day, would recommend getting down to AR Krav Maga. I certainly plan on doing some more training with Tony in the future.
Tony Robinson recently run a BTEC L3 course in which I participated, along with other colleagues. The course was very well delivered and Tony was not only very knowledgeable in the subject matter but also very friendly, approachable and a great motivator. We all learned a great deal from the course itself and from Tony's feedback. I have been a Martial Arts Instructor for over 30 years and have attended my share of courses. To anyone interested in doing this course, as London Kickboxing's Chief Instructor, I strongly recommend that you should get in touch with Tony Robinson. You'll benefit from a great learning experience!
I really enjoyed this course and can very much recommend it. I've been a kickboxing instructor for a number of years but wanted to extend my training. The BTEC Level 3 in Self Defence felt like a very natural extension to my current training. I have learnt so much more and I'm really looking forward to showing/teaching what I have learnt to my students. I particularly liked the science and law behind self defence, which are covered in the Learning Log you have to complete prior to the course. The practical part of the course was very thorough and I have come away feeling confident in my abilities. Thank you so much!
Just completed the BTEC Level 3 Advanced Self-Defence course under Tony Robinson. I have been teaching Martial Arts for around 30 years and have to say this course was the best. Learnt great knowledge in the laws of using self defence, and also how the most simplest of techniques can work with minimun effort and maximum certainty. This course gave me a complete new aspect in the ways of teaching self=defence which I will now implement in my teaching. This is certainly a must course for all whether in martial arts or wanting to learn how to protect yourself and loved ones. Tony Robinson is an awesome knowledgable instructor. Big thumbs up in every aspect of this course. Thank you learnt so much.
I have recently completed an Enhanced CP course with SQR and Tony Robinson provided the AR Krav Maga self defence training whilst we were in Poland for the firearms part of the course. The training was very professional and informative and I can highly recommend the course and the trainer.
Did a Level 3 BTEC Advance Self Defence course with Tony Robinson last week, all I can say is Tony as our unstructor is exceptional, highly effective, proficient in what he does, the course was very informative he made the course so easy to understand.
I met Anthony just over two years ago when I started krav maga. Since then I have been instructed and taught by Anthony on various classes and courses. He has this amazing ability to connect to his students in a way I have rarely seen before. If you are somebody who learns by either visual, auditory or by demonstrations he picks this up very well and teaches students in a way that they will learn best. I couldn't recommend him enough!

“I have had the pleasure of leaning under Tony’s instruction for the last two years. His unique insight into the word of Self Defence is clearly surrounded by years of independent training within the Krav Maga world and his military training and experience. I have had the pleasure of training with some of the world’s best and highly trained instructors and I can categorically say that I recognise his expertise and skills. His methods of teaching are well structured and designed to meet the capabilities of all students ranging from novice to the experienced. The particular skills that I acknowledge most with Tony generates from his military training. Under his direction I have successfully taken part in numerous seminars. During these, he has taught methods of dealing with scenarios from the point of view of a Krav Maga Instructor and an Experienced Military Personnel. This means the training received is not only extremely thorough, but diverse, adaptive and skilful. It therefore helps and guides me to meet the self-defence demands from our ever explosive society”
The extent of Tony's knowledge of Krav Maga, his extensive real-world experience and his dedication to ensuring you receive the best training possible combine to make him an excellent and trustworthy instructor.
I once read that exceptional instructors are distinguished not by their physical abilities, but by their ability to motivate and train students to perform a specific skill in a specific environment, and Tony does just that with ease. Tony encourages his students to challenge his methods and ideas; I actually believe he wants his guys to outgrow his own ability, which is a rare quality. When Tony moves to Norwich he will be missed by us all.
Due to my business, I have been on various courses and had an interest in anything involving tactical/military training or self defence techniques. Krav Maga initally created by Israeli special forces as a new solution to real life situations, this is what drew myself and my partner in to giving it a try for ourselves. From the first lessons I was hooked, having opportunities to work with experts in their field and provide you with all the information and training you need to help you further yourself to accomplish your goals. Since joining my fitness levels have increased and self confidence to, I have recommended Krav to friends now they have followed the path to. As a bonus the instructors are some of the nicest people you could meet.
I am writing in thanks to you and Capt Tony Robinson for delivering the Krav Maga training to both myself and members of our Squadron, in replacement of Battle PT.
You and Tony delivered a balanced, engaging and exacting lesson that not only tested our soldiers, but has provided them with new a skill-set and in turn generated interest in Krav-Maga and self-defence training.
Without any doubt our Sappers enjoyed the experience and found it beneficial; a welcome break from the prescribed PT program. With your permission, we would very much like to have you and Tony continue this in the future and with our previously discussed future dates and training objectives.
Tony is a pleasure and joy to train for and with, he teaches with patience and a smile and every lesson we learn something new about what we can acheive and what Krav Maga is about. Lessons are challenging and Tony guides us to improve with every lesson. We look forward to lessons with him , fitness Friday rules !! Without hesitation we would recommend Tony to anyone who wants to be taught the skills of Krav Maga and find out what they can acheive with hard work and effort . Tony opens the door for people to succeed they just have to have the courage to walk through it.
As a serving member of Her Majesty’s Reserve Forces, I believed that it was important to learn a form of ‘Self Defence’. When introduced to AR Krav Maga I couldn’t have been more wrong...it is so much more.’ With the level of skill, trust and Professionalism from the Instructors, in defending knife attacks, disarming of fire arms to name a few -their teaching methods are easy to understand and practice – after my first lesson I felt more confident and prepared should I ever have to defend myself, family or friends. The simplicity, yet effectiveness of Krav Maga makes it easily adaptable in teaching for all ages. I couldn’t recommend AR Krav Maga more to ‘all’ persons in any walk of life, HM Forces to kids at school, personally I will be introducing my children to AR Krav Maga in the very near future...
I have received training from Tony for over two years now and have benefitted so much from his expertise. Everything he says is coming from direct, real experiences. He doesn’t show you what he thinks will work, he shows you what he knows will work. Tony’s background in the military along with his training and experience in Krav Maga commands respect; he is a supportive instructor who will push you to bring out your very best. Tony knows how to bring out more than you thought you had in you. Krav sessions with Tony are also great for building fitness, losing weight and building a strong core and toned muscles. He brings specialist knowledge and training from his background as an Army Physical Training Corp Instructor. I’m lucky to have worked with some of the best Krav Maga instructors around and Tony would certainly be one of them. He is good humoured, approachable, and respectful but also no nonsense and straightforward, the kind of instructor anyone would be lucky to have. As part of my own development in Krav Maga I have also attended several of his courses namely the BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in Self-defence Instruction and the Conflict Management course; I was amazed at how easily he was able to switch mind-set and behaviour from teaching Krav Maga one day and then low level self-defence skills to complete novices the next. If you want to learn effective, practical self-defence from a qualified and uniquely experienced instructor than I would wholly recommend seeing what AR Krav Maga has to offer.
Having had the privilege of training with a range of martial arts and self-defence instructors I can confidently say that Tony is one of the best. Not only is he an expert in Krav Maga but he also brings experience from a long career in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, Tony has legitimate knowledge and insight into the realities of violence. In training we have learnt how to respond physically to aggression, we have also developed an awareness of the mental and emotional aspects of violence and how to keep ourselves safe. I find Tony’s teaching very clear and easy to follow; he shows us how to perform a technique but also explains when and why we would use it. What I also appreciate is how he strips away any unnecessary or impractical elements and focuses on what really works, not only have we increased our physical capabilities but also our awareness, for example I have learnt from the classes that sometimes the best defence is knowing the escape routes.
As well as serving as a soldier Tony is also a qualified physical training instructor for the Armed Forces meaning we are receiving expert coaching on how to become fitter and more flexible. One of the most helpful things about the classes is how Tony will come round while we work with a partner and give individual instruction, he works out the best ways for you to perform a move, so if you’re struggling to get to grips with something Tony will show you and adapt it to suit your ability and physical talents or limits. I always come away from the lessons feeling energised and looking forward to the next. His lessons are fun, motivating and I always learn something new. Krav works on the body’s natural movements so it’s possible to start picking it up quite quickly it’s then a case of perfecting the fundamentals and adding more advanced techniques.
Training with Tony will push you to exceed whatever limits you may have set for yourself, but without expecting you to do the impossible before you are ready. Overall anybody can do Krav, young, old, male, female, short, tall, and at all levels of fitness; but if you want to learn Krav Maga with one of the best than I would recommend joining AR Krav Maga
